Only her hairdresser knows for sure.

My name is Schmoochie and I am a compulsive hair colourer.

My confession: I have no idea what my natural hair colour is.

Pretty bad huh.....

It all started in 1984 when I was in 8th grade. I grabbed a pair of scissors and a bottle of peroxide and *VIOLA* I looked like Billy Idol.

I eventually moved on from the peroxide to hair colour in a box and through the years have been almost every shade of blonde from platinum to champagne to strawberry.

I've been medium reddish blonde and my last known colour was Deep Cranberry Auburn.
This was what led to my downfall. Never ever ever go darker after you've spent the better part of 25 years lightening your hair. {Are you playing attention and taking notes?}

After I broke my hair in February, I promised Ass-hat that I would not colour it at home anymore. He was quite alarmed at the amount of hair he was pulling out of the drain and was afraid I would become bald sooner rather than later.

It has been months since hair colour has touched my hair. And while the blonde high-lighting has softened the edge of re-growth it has become apparent that I am indeed, turning gray. My 'new' hair is a non-colour. I don't recall seeing "colourless" as an option on my drivers license. The gray hair should not surprise me, my mom went gray at 18 years old, so did my grandmother. I can't fight the gene pool.

I really miss my blonde hair. :(

Actually at this point I miss having a hair colour of any sort.

Got my head fixed!

So some may recall the incredibly stupid thing I did about 6 weeks ago when in a fit of PMS madness/depression I decided to colour my hair. Not so unusual as I have coloured my hair for the last 20 years. But this time it went horribly wrong.

First of all, I dye my hair blonde. I used the same colour for many years and then the bastards went and discontinued it. So I was left adrift in a sea of shades and options. My last blonde colour was a platinum blonde.

At Christmas I decided to go light auburn. It turned out ok and I really like it. Which got me thinking..I could do this whole dark funky red thing. It's gotta be easier than keeping up the blonde. WRONG!

In February I picked up a box of beautiful Cinneberry Auburn. It was gorgeous on the box, not so much in my hair.

The first couple of inches of my hair were a fabulous red and the midshaft of my hair was BLACK!!! Oh it was horrible. I cried. Big J cursed. Little J asked "Why Mommy Why?"

It was a semi-permanent colour so it should have washed out in 28 shampoos. HELL NO!
6 weeks later and colour was still staining my towels.

Hubby had bought me a 'hair colour' for Valentines Day and today I used it.

The hairdresser had a good laugh at my story, tears streaming down her face when I asked if I could go straight back to blonde. My only alternative was to hack off what I could and blend in the rest.

I'm quite pleased with the end result. I don't look like "me" yet but its getting better.

You can clearly see the black sections in my hair

Adventures in Hair Colour

I think I have medium blonde hair. I have been colouring my hair for 20 years and I honestly don't know what it looks like 'au natural'. Isn't that sad?? For the last 6 years I used the same colour each and every time, a very nice buttery blonde. Well, they dicountinued that shade and left me adrift in a sea of choices. Added to my problem, every since I popped out the kid, my hair has had a mind of it's own and does what it damn well please. So the colour on the box is not usually what ends up on my head.

I temporarily lost my mind and decided to go from platinum blonde to um well, dark auburn.
First time turned out rather well. All nice even colour, no one ran screaming at the sight of me.
I felt brave and opted to go a little 'funky' and get a burgandy hued colour. Well... the roots and about the first 3 inches of my hair looked fabulous but the rest of it...oh crap! The previously coloured hair sucked up every last bit of dye and it damn near black. I am 2 toned and not in a good way. I cannot fix it and am afraid to try. It's not washing out well either. I refuse to pay someone $$$ to fix me so here I am, the object of snickers and giggles wherever I go (I'm sure no is actually point and laughing but whatever)

I think I should just get my hair cut super super short, let the colour grow out and see what I actually look like 'real'.

Oh the horror! Clairol help me!!!
